TIHANYI PC

STORY
Hi!
My name is Andrey Tihanyi – Exercise Physiologist and Performance Coach.

I was born in Sudbury, ON and was nurtured within a teaching and coaching lineage that used the long-term athlete development model (LTAD), and placed continuous growth and improvement in life and sport through creating positive, incremental change as the driver.
Playing many sports as a youth helped to develop me into an elite athlete via exploration of movement and skill acquisition. However, I was fortunate to be taught and coached by Dr. Jeno “Doc” Tihanyi (father), Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame Inductee, and Peter Ennis (uncle), Canadian Olympic Women’s Basketball Head Coach (1996) and CIAU National Champion (1989 – 1991).
Specializing in an individual sport – swimming, and a team sport – basketball, taught me the importance of self-discipline, personal progress, collaboration, and communication. Swimming was always my number one competitive sport, from age group competition, to university varsity swimming, and now into Masters swimming. The sport has taught me valuable life skills, introduced me to amazing people, and allowed me to grow and compete on the national and international stage.
I have been coaching on the pool deck at all levels, from grassroots to provincial athletes, and beyond with national and international high-performance athletes. With pools shutting down and the world stopping in 2020 during the pandemic, I pursued higher education in exercise and sport science – attaining my NSCA-CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist), and my designation as an exercise physiologist (CEP) through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP). This experience and skill set opened doors that allowed me to work with provincial and national high-performance athletes within organizations such as Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, Row Ontario, Niagara College, Ridley College, and Brock University.
Today, I seek to partner and support individuals, athletes, teams, and coaches with best-in-class coaching and physiology-based services. Reach out and book a free consultation now and learn how I can support you towards achieving existing and new goals!

MISSION STATEMENT & PHILOSOPHY

MISSION STATEMENT
I aim to work closely with individuals who seek technical coaching and education in the pool, on land, and in the weight room through sport science and physiology-based training via seasonal and yearly training plans, supported with body composition assessments to help track and direct short and long-term interventions and achievements.
LIFE COACHING AND PHILOSOPHY
My life and coaching philosophy are continually maturing and developing, yet underpinned on continuous improvement though varied and new challenges being introduced. I am a process-oriented thinker who uses a combination of evidence-based strategies and opinion-based decision making, supported by objective measures and relevant metrics to achieve long-term, quality-focused goals.
“Excellence is achieved not by pushing performance but by pushing improvement. What matters is not how fast but how well”
Jeno “Doc” Tihanyi – Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame Inductee
